Pet Care Back

Nutritious Food For Canine

Pet are no longer treated as a mere loving animals. Care and welfare of the pets have evolved over the years. Of all the pets humans love, canine occupies a special place. The bondage between dogs and humans exists, since time immemorial. Pet nutrition principles for feeding dogs continue to evolve. Owners do not mind, going for the extra mile in providing a perfect nutritious food for them. Pet food manufacturers across the world are providing properly
formulated foods. That makes the canine more energetic. The right combination of ingredients in the proper ratios creates a nutritious diet. The best nutritious dog food must have complete and balanced high protein. So, every care has to be taken to buy the food with right ingredients to ensure the food will do good to the dog. But, in reality not many pet food manufacturer’s claim are true and some source of nutrition may be harmful for your dog. Unfortunately for
the pet food purchaser, and worse for the dog, many such foods are available in the market.
For example, a dog good food must contain high protein. But, the question is how the protein is composed? High protein can be generated using an indigestible substance such as feathers, hide or hoofs. So, if the dog’s gastrointestinal tract is unable to break the protein molecules down into amino acids and then absorb and utilize those amino acids, the diet is worthless as a
food source for the dog, though on analysis the protein level may be high. So "high protein” on the label means absolutely nothing; one has to read the ingredients label to see if the source of protein is digestible.
Further, larger manufacturers generally use a fixed formula of set ingredient that do not vary. On the other hand, some small pet food producers, may substitute ingredients and accordingly change the raw ingredients from time to time. A high quality dog food will meet the
nutritional requirements of a dog. By buying a cheap dog food, one will eventually feed his/
her pet only cheap ingredients. As the cheap ingredients are less efficiently digested, there is more fecal waste production. Besides, the dog will also be not as healthy as when fed higher quality dog food. Also, many pet manufacturers use all kinds of preservatives to keep the dog food from deteriorating over time. However, for the pet owners it would rather good to find out the right food that has no chemical preservatives and instead used only natural substances
such as vitamin E or vitamin C. By reading the product’s list of ingredients, one can make out whether the product is worth a try. The first three ingredients are the most important. It is easy to tell if the diet is vegetable based, with corn, rice, wheat, and soybean meal listed as the main ingredients; or if the diet is meat based, with meat, lamb, fish or poultry listed as the main ingredients. It is always better to pick a meat-based diet over vegetable-based foods for optimum health for dogs. Also, keep in mind, that the higher the quality of the ingredients, the greater the nutritive value for the dog.
